The Company

Quickstep Professional Solutions Ltd was launched in 2006 to provide training services to the fund administration industry. It currently has clients based in Ireland, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands. A very successful first 18 months means that Quickstep needs additional training capabilities.

 

The Role

The fund administration trainer will be responsible for course design, preparation, delivery and review.

 

The Person

The ideal candidate has 5 years experience in hedge fund and/or mutual fund administration.  This should include exposure to some or all of the following areas: pricing, valuations, fund accounting and financial reporting.  The candidate should be familiar with valuation and control issues regarding equities, fixed income securities and derivatives, including swaps.

 

Outstanding communication and presentation skills are required.  The successful candidate should also possess a high degree of organizational capabilities, be dynamic, highly motivated and seeking a challenging role.

Job Title: Valuations & Settlements Administrator

 

Reports to: Valuations & Settlements Supervisor

 

Function:

This challenging position offers the opportunity to be exposed to the complete GAM fund range and develop a detailed knowledge of their structure/operation.  This position will allow the successful candidate the opportunity to work on funds of various levels of difficulty, over time and after training. 

 

Full training will be provided on a one to one basis initially and will include a review of all funds.  This position provides good scope for advancement for the right candidate.

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

 Responsible for NAV calculation and trade settlement.  Responsibilities include the following:

 

·         Cash reconciliations

·         Accrued Income Expenses reconciliations

·         Unit pricing

·         Reviewing formal reports for correctness of valuation

·         Reviewing control reports and addressing promptly any issues highlighted

·         Issuing price to Registration

·         Understanding and implementing valuation's and settlement's procedures

·         Trade Settlement across a broad range of security instruments

·         Asset Reconciliation and query resolution

·         Cash Management - e.g. Money Movements, FX, Margin & Fund of Funds

·         Deal Placement

·         Maintaining and developing day to day relationships with GAM personnel as well as brokers, administrators, custodians and Investment Managers.

·         Answering queries relating to the funds

·         Prompt investigation and resolution of any outstanding issues

 

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

 

Qualifications/Work Experience (desirable only):

 

·         1 years experience working in a busy office environment, preferably within either a financial or fund administration organisation

·         Previous fund administration experience desirable

·         Knowledge of Funds & Fund Industry

·         This position would suit candidates studying towards an accounting qualification (ACCA/CIMA/CPA), however this is not essential

·         Third level Accounting & Finance or Business/Economics qualification (Cert, Diploma, Degree etc.) an advantage

·         Cert in Mutual Funds/ IMC an advantage

·         Knowledge of securities
