What is www.fundsjobs.ie all about?
Welcome to Ireland’s dedicated clearing house / supermarket for jobs and careers in the funds industry, covering both long and hedge funds and those who service these industries. This website is brought to you by the operators of www.complianceireland.com.
On this website you will find a selection of jobs and careers offered by Ireland’s leading funds companies, including fund administrators, fund managers, custodians, trustees, distributors and service providers (lawyers, accountants, consultants, listing personnel and non-executive directors). In fact we will host any opening on this website provided the role is directly connected to the Irish funds industry. Roles for compliance, risk management and in-house legal personnel within the funds industry are advertised on this site and also at http://www.complianceireland.com/jobs.html
This website is offered as a free medium to Irish funds companies/businesses searching for personnel (repeat - there is no charge for this service whether you be an employer or potential employee).
Why is this service free? It is free because the founder of this website, www.complianceireland.com, www.antimoneylaundering.ie and www.mifid.ie, Peter Oakes, has received great support form the Irish financial services industry in establishing and running his core business - compliance consulting and training services.

How does this website affect my own internal recruitment process?
We do not interfere with your usual internal recruitment process. All you do is ask us to upload your openings and we will include a link to your internal straight-thru-processing (STP) careers extranet/website at which interested persons will utilise your systems to apply for roles. Alternatively, if you do not use a STP system, then simply inform us of the email address to which candidates should forward their CVs. See an example of how this may work by clicking the 'Jobs' button above.
What are the benefits of using www.fundsjobs.ie?
The benefits are obvious aren’t they? Nothing could be simpler than this website in allowing all Irish funds industry firms to advertise on one website. Candidates need only visit one website to see who is advertising rather than fish amongst the various generic recruitment sites in Ireland and abroad. Your ‘war for talent’ can be conducted through a simple and extremely cost effective medium – i.e. www.fundsjobs.ie. Human talent will move – you cannot stop that from occurring; but you can reduce the cost effect it has on your business by utilising a virtual clearing house / supermarket for funds jobs - i.e. www.fundsjobs.ie.
I need some figures to make my case to the CEO/Head of HR
OK. Firstly, this is a free service giving your business and openings greater exposure. Secondly, did you know that 6,023 persons were employed in funds industry companies in Ireland as at 1 January 2005 - representing a 12.4% increase year on year. If this increment is confirmed as at 1 January 2006, this would represent employment of 6,769 (excluding those employed at the service providers to Irish mutual funds industry, e.g. lawyers, accountants, consultants etc). Yet senior persons in our industry expect that during 2006 we will lift employment to just below 7,000 personnel!
In Ireland we estimate that staff turnover in the funds industry is an average of between 22-28% per annum. In other words we replace, on average, 1/4 to almost 1/3 of our staff each year – and that is just to ‘keep afloat’ because (as noted above) we estimate that we will take on an additional 1,000 persons to service the funds industry in 2006.
You do not need to be a genius to appreciate how expensive replacing existing staff and recruiting for new staff cuts into the bottom line of the funds industry - which is already being constrained by other operating costs and the continual squeezing of profit margins. If we took a generous (from the employer’s view) recruitment commission rate of say 18% (of salary) and applied it to a low ball average salary of say €33,000 p.a. extrapolated across staff turnover of 25% of 7,000 in 2006, then we are talking about a possible recruitment fee spend of €10,395,000. And that doesn’t include hidden costs, such as time spent by management identifying, assessing and employing the right staff.
Therefore this website should form part of your recruitment strategy.
